Penang Bird Park being well-praised for its excellent
collection of Malaysian bird species, is the home of more than 150 species
of these beautiful tropical birds. Due to the vase diversity in the natural
habitats of Malaysian birds, ranching from the coastal mangrove swamps to
the high attitude of the dense tropical rain forests, it will not be possible
to view all these birds in their natural habitats in one's life time. However,
one can view these birds in the comfort at Penang Bird Park, where the birds
are living in their imitated natural habitats. More than 100 species of
these Malaysian birds are breeding readily in captivity at Penang Bird Park.
Since the establishment of Penang Bird Park in 1988, the park has been very
patiently collecting different species of birds throughout the years. The
Malaysian bird species form the most beautiful and unique bird collections
in Penang Bird Park. Malaysian birds are some of the most beautiful birds
to behold due to their rainbow colouration of their feathers. The Flycatchers,
Minivets, Kingfishers, Fairy Bluebirds, the Pheasants, Partridges, and the
tiny Flowerpeckers and Sunbirds are some of the birds that are so colourful
that is beyond the description by words.
Penang Bird Park is also very active in the conservation of endangered birds
species, especially the Malaysian birds, eg. the Nicobar Pigeon, the Peacock
Pheasants, the Fireback Pheasants, Partridges, the Owls, Hornbills, Eagles
and others.
